Liquid is an adjective that doesn’t find its way into design discourse too often. This word carries an emotive energy that has the ability to conjure up free-flowing movement in the imagination. Liquid can run and flow; it oozes out and can’t be confined; it finds its way into places it doesn’t belong; it moves in subversive ways and it does so on its own terms. Four Australian designers – Elliot Bastianon, Andrew Carvolth, Ebony Heidenreich and Jake Rollins – exhibit a collection of objects that explore the various ways in which movement and descriptive language can influence contemporary design practice.
