The centenary of the influential Bauhaus school of art, design and architecture will be celebrated around the world in 2019 including at Geelong Gallery with an exhibition of works by Ludwig Hirschfeld MackJoin Sydney University Museums, University Art Gallery and Art Collections Senior Curator, Dr Ann Stephen, in-conversation with Geelong Grammar School, Head of Visual Arts Peter Bajer, Art Historian, and recipient of the Ursula Hoff Fellow for 2018, Dr Jane Eckett and Geelong Gallery, Senior Curator, Lisa Sullivan, as they discuss émigré artist and educator, Ludwig Hirschfeld Mack’s legacy and the impact of Bauhaus ideas on Australian art. The Bauhaus centenary: Ludwig Hirschfeld Mack exhibition comprises a selection of paintings, prints, and three-dimensional objects by Hirschfeld Mack largely drawn from the significant gift made by his widow, Olive Hirschfeld, to Geelong Gallery in 1976.
