Melbourne Innovation District Symposium
Presented by RMIT Architecture

RMIT Design Hub

Free entry

The Melbourne Innovation District is gathering momentum with a unique partnership between the City of Melbourne, RMIT and the University of Melbourne that will transform the district between the two universities to the north of the CBD. As part of Melbourne Design Week 2018, RMIT Architecture is hosting a one-day symposium on Melbourne’s Innovation District that looks at the role of design in shaping the precinct.

The symposium will make explicit the contribution of design in all of its forms: urban design, participatory design, landscape architecture, public art, way-finding, communication design, and the design of services enabled by digital engagement and effective policy. To contextualise the challenge internationally speakers have been invited from Barcelona and Cambridge to discuss the 22@ Innovation District in Barcelona and the Cambridge Innovation Zone. The symposium will explore how through strategy, advocacy and action, designers can facilitate change in this emergent part of Melbourne.
