After navigating extreme remoteness, heat, flood, cyclones and everything not going to plan during ten days spent in Cape York, Monash University’s Master of Architecture students present films that document a design studio to produce a master plan concept for a cultural knowledge centre on Olkola Country. The project aims to support and empower living and working on country, and is the first stage of an ongoing collaborative design partnership with the Olkola Aboriginal Corporation, The Centre for Appropriate Technology and Monash University. Senior Olkola Traditional Owners and Rangers will visit from Cape York to join the proceedings and share stories about the land management work they are doing on Olkola Country.
Join the students on the campus green to soak up the atmosphere of the Binthi Warra and Kuku Yalanji country through these films along with a broader discussion around how co-design can support the realisation of the masterplan to empower Olkola people and place.
