Lisa Waup’s oneness embraces the duality of belonging and isolation, connection and fragmentation, while simultaneously bringing into focus the idea of a unified sense of self made up from multiple origin stories, past, present and future. Acknowledging that reconnection is a lifelong journey, oneness honours the artist’s roots, acting as a space to both process and express her personal experience of being adopted. Waup explains: ‘I am fortunate that I have two mothers, thankful for the love and energy both have given me over my lifetime.’
