Cybernetics is the framework that considers the interface between humanity, technology and society. The Health Transformation Lab utilises this approach to solve problems in healthcare including: off-planet healthcare, mix-species hospitals and guerrilla information provision. This design methodology goes way off script to deliver tangible transformation in health care service, system and product design. During the open lab, clinicians and designers showcase their work along with participating in a panel on cybernetics and salutogenic design.

The Health Transformation Lab uses a design approach known as “the treatment”, which combines anthropology, phenomenology, environmental portraiture, Jesuit method reasoning and ecosystem mapping. This event exposes the audience to this approach in order for designers to think in radically different ways.
