First wife and cousin of Ferdinand VII.

Both Maria Antonia and her elder brother Francis married into the ruling Spanish Bourbon family in order to shore up ties between Spain and the Kingdoms of Naples and Sicily. Maria Antonia was intelligent and politically aware but died of tuberculosis before being able to leave any real legacy. Her two pregnancies ended in miscarriage.
