Frame

The frame on The princess out of school is derived from a form developed in the nineteenth century by the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, wide flat borders with selective decoration. In this instance the flat is gilded direct to oak timber with small circular decorative motifs pressed into the surface. The outer edge is a classical imbricated leaf torus moulded from composition.
