Physical description
Ocean beach, Sorrento 1957 depicts a portion of the rocky Victorian coastline under the dry heat of a summer day. Paint is applied frenetically, dribbled and scratched onto the surface to successfully convey the turbulent water and rugged landscape. Two children are huddled in a rocky enclave in the lower right hand corner of the composition.
