Physical description
(a) The jacket is constructed with pieced panels of antique silk kimono fabrics. The notched lapel collar and wide waist panel are pale dusty pink/purple, the rest is black with a subtle pattern in a stylised floral design. It fastens at the proper left side with four spherical cord covered buttons and silk loops. The lower 'skirt' section of the jacket has two box pleats in the front and back and the centre back waistband is finished with a folded square of fabric similar to an obi. The jacket is lined in sections of grey and pink acetate. (b) The matching wrap skirt has a fixed waistband, the front is made up of vertical panels of antique kimono fabric in black and purple, while the back has three horizontal panels with two floral roundels. The skirt fastens at the proper right with a single button and is lined with a combination of black silk and black and white grid patterned silk.
