Women Photographers | VCE Art Creative Practice: Interpretive Lenses
Levels VCE

Mon–Fri, 10am, 11.30am, 1pm & 2.30pm
NGV International

Step into a world shaped through the lens of trailblazing women photographers. Spanning decades of artistic innovation and social change, students will explore bold, diverse photographic practices from 1900–1975. Using three interpretive lenses: structural, personal and cultural, students will explore how these artists captured identity, challenged norms and documented the world around them.

Students will:

  • Identify how women photographers used photography to express identity and challenge social norms
  • Apply the Interpretive Lenses to analyse the ideas, meanings and messages in selected photographs
  • Discuss the role of photography in documenting and influencing social and political change

Duration: 45 mins plus self-guided time in the exhibition
Cost: $22 per student
