Women’s Visions 1900-1975 – Introductory Talk
Levels Tertiary

Mon–Fri, 10am, 11.30am, 1pm & 2.30pm
NGV International

Critically engage with the work of women photographers from 1900 to 1975 and examine how photography was used to express identity, document political movements and challenge dominant narratives. Spanning portraiture, photomontage, fashion and photojournalism, students will consider photography’s role as both artistic practice and social commentary, highlighting feminist perspectives and the shifting cultural contexts that shaped these diverse image-makers.

Students will:

  • Analyse how women photographers used image-making to explore identity and activism
  • Recognise the impact of historical and cultural contexts on photographic practices
  • Interpret works through feminist and cross-cultural perspectives

Duration: 45 mins plus self-guided time in the exhibition
Cost: $38 per tertiary student
