Margaret Preston Studio Workshop | Print Like a Modernist
Levels 5 - 8

Celebrate Australia’s unique native flora through colour, pattern and shape. Inspired by Margaret Preston’s modernist approach to design, students develop striking compositions and bring them to life in original works of art combining collage and block printing. This program includes the Margaret Preston interactive exhibition tour for either primary or secondary level, followed by the practical workshop in the studio.

Students will:

  • Analyse the use of colour, line, shape and pattern in modernist artworks.
  • Manipulate the art and design elements and principles to create original compositions.
  • Apply printmaking tools and techniques to translate a drawn design into a relief print.

Duration: 2 hour
Cost: $37 per student

Format: In-Gallery discussion and studio workshop

We require four weeks notice for all bookings.

Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.

Please provide details of any relevant themes and skills your students are learning about at school. While we cannot offer individually tailored programs, our museum educators will consider this information when selecting and discussing works of art during the program.

Date Selection

We recommend you provide three date options for your program to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate your first preference, however due to high demand this may not always be possible.
