Beauty in Truth

Margaret Stones is one of Australia’s most distinguished expatriates, whose achievements during fifty years of work as a botanical artist have won her international renown. Particularly gratifying for us at the National Gallery of Victoria is that Stones’s association with the Gallery spans the whole of her working career. This exhibition is thus a timely survey of an artist in her full maturity, whose work has been known to to specialists in the field of art and botany but not as well as it should be in the wider Australian community.
