Bronze Sketches by Jaques Lipchitz

This retrospective exhibition of Lithuanian-born sculptor Jacques Lipchitz draws on the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. The artist writes in the exhibition catalogue: ‘I am very happy to present to you these bronzes and have to confess that I myself am waiting to see this assemblage with great impatience and curiosity. For you see it is the first time in my life that the work is all together and presented chronologically, showing the total stream of my thoughts, ideas and encounters. It is my hope that they will give me new elements to acquire a little more freedom in the illumination of my art.’
