Ground Level
Contempora5, an initiative jointly undertaken by the Victorian State Government and the Gallery, enticed some of the country’s finest artists to submit entries for the $100,000 prize. All five artists whose work was selected for exhibition submitted installations. The work of Hany Armanious, Deej Fabyc, Fiona Hall, Nigel Helyer and Ken Unsworth was judged by a panel that included Mr Andrew Graham-Dixon, the art critic of the British daily newspaper The Independent. The prize was awarded to Fiona Hall for her work Give a dog a bone.
