The finest and most varied gold-work made by the Indians before the Spanish conquest was produced in the territory which is today the Republic of Colombia.

The Australian Art Exhibitions Corporation Limited, in conjunction with the Museo del Oro, Bogota, Colombia, presents and exhibition of 200 gold objects and 20 ceramics and stone pieces.

Sponsored by the Benson and Hedges Company and assisted by the Commonwealth Government, the exhibition … depicts aspects of the sixteenth century European explorers’ search for gold in the New World – for the land of the legendary El Dorado, king of a golden realm.
