Exploration

An Exhibition of Photographs by John Cato and Laurie Wilson

NGV International

Ground Level

27 Feb – 27 Apr 75

Photography Gallery

Exploration, the first Australian exhibition to be shown in the new Photography Gallery was one of exceptional quality, both in dramatic vision and craftsmanship. It included four series: Petroglyphs and Tree – A Journey, by John Cato of Melbourne, and The Dog Rocks and The Trees by Laurie Wilson of Geelong, prints which mark a phenomenal artistic development in these men over the last two years. One of Laurie Wilson’s prints from The Dog Rocks series was selected by Bill Brandt for inclusion in ‘The Land‘ an international exhibition of landscapes photography of the twentieth century to open at the Victoria and Albert Museum in October, 1975.
