Fashion

Reality and Record

NGV International

13 Jun – 3 Aug 69

An exhibition of costumes and prints and drawings of historical costume. The Australian Jewish News noted: “the beautifully hand embroidered knee length pantaloons and frock coats for men on show at the National Gallery’s Fashion – Reality and Record exhibition could quite easily become the dernier cri for the 19670s. Miniskirts could possibly give way to the bustling crinolines and for example, the Australian evening gown of 1888 on view could pass today without the raising of an false eyelash.”
