For centuries, architects have turned their attention to the design of furniture, metalwork and the other applied arts. This exhibition, drawn from the collections of the National Gallery of Victoria, documents the impressive contribution they have made since the late 18th Century, when Robert Adam designed complete interiors for English town and country houses. The exhibition includes examples of the work of most of the major “progressive” architects of 19th Century Britain, a large selection of 20th Century design classics, and a group of work by 20th Century Australian architect – designers.
