Marcel Duchamp

The exhibition showcases work from the collection of Mary Sislar, a significant collector of modern art and patron of the Museum of Modern Art, New York. The exhibition includes 78 works by Duchamp, comprising sketches, oil paintings, sculpture and ready mades. Key works include Bicycle wheel 1913, a work that solidified Duchamp’s idea that a work of art could be “made” without the intervention of the hand of the artist. He made this claim two years after Bicycle wheel was made, when he exhibited ready mades at the Bourgeois Gallery, New York in 1916.
