Arranged by the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, this exhibition brought 114 paintings assembled from public and private collections to Australia. The exhibition proved so popular that special arrangements were made to keep the gallery open until 9pm each night. In its span of just under four weeks, the exhibition had 171,961 visitors.
