Narratives, Nudes and Landscapes

The staging of this exhibition coincided with the publication of an NGV catalogue entitled European Paintings of the 19th and Early 20th Centuries in the National Gallery of Victoria. According to the Director’s Foreword provided by previous NGV Director, Timothy Potts, ‘both events have drawn support from the recent revival of interest in late nineteenth-century European — especially French — painting, which makes the timing of these projects particularly auspicious’.
