On Tour

10 British Jewellers in Germany and Australia

NGV International

Ground Level

28 Jun – 17 Jul 77

More than eighty pieces of work by ten of Britain’s leading contemporary jewellers were on display at the National Gallery of Victoria. The exhibition demonstrates the new sense of informality and exploration which is now a part of creativej ewellery. Less emphasis is laid on the value of jewellery and materials such as resins, acrylics, hemp and cotton are used extensively.

The jewellers – five men and five women – are all in their late twenties or early thirties. They are Carlone Broadhead, Brian Glassar, Susanna Heron, Catherine Mannheim, Julia Manheim, Roger Morris, David Poston, Eric Spiller, Gunilla Treen and David Watkins.

The exhibition was organised by the Crafts advisory Committee, London in association with the British Council. The Australian tour is sponsored by the Crafts Board of the Australian Council and British Council.
