Contemporary Art, Level 3

16 Feb 08 – 17 Aug 08

This exhibition focuses on small but diverse selection of works by four contemporary artists who have used video to explore different dimensions of the changing conditions of our times.

Including works by Óscar Muñoz, Sebastian Diaz Morales, Jennifer Allora & Guillermo Calzadilla, the exhibition considers ideas that have dominated the social and political landscape in recent years: relationships between the individual and the collective, distinctions between regional identities and global perspectives in postcolonial contexts, and the transience and resilience of human existence.

Engaging performative, documentary and poetic modes of representation, each video in the exhibition interrogates, via different means, the complex interrelationship between politics and aesthetics.
