The Joan and Peter Clemenger Triennial Exhibition of Contemporary Australian Art is the result of the Clemengers’ desire to make a donation to the National Gallery of Victoria for the benefit of the arts. Conceived as a triennial exhibition it will be devoted to the best in Australian art in all media. This, the first exhibition, focuses upon recent work by sixteen artists pre-eminent in their chosen field of endeavour. Painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and design for tapestry are represented. Future exhibitions will include artists working in these and other media.
