The Triennial Exhibition of Contemporary Australian Art grew out of Joan and Peter Clemenger’s desire to do something for the National Gallery of Victoria that would represent a significant contribution to the Victorian and Australian contemporary art scene. Conceived as a triennial exhibition, it aims to showcase the best of contemporary Australian art. This, the second exhibition, focuses upon recent work by sixteen mid-career artists, all well known and respected in their chosen fields.
