The Aubrey Gibson Collection

Aubrey Gibson was an Australian businessman and arts patron. A trustee of the National Gallery of Victoria in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Gibson lent his personal art collection for this exhibition curated by John Stringer in 1969. The exhibition reflected the diversity and scale of Gibson’s collection. It included work by Pablo Picasso, Piere Soulages, Frank De Silva as well as Karel Appel, Soo Pieng Cheong and Yu Lin. Australian artists represented included Tom Roberts, John Brack and Sidney Nolan.
