The Kangaroo in the Decorative Arts

NGV International

Ground Level

18 Dec 79 – 3 Feb 80

The Kangaroo in the Decorative Arts was mounted in 1979 by Terence Lane, a former NGV Senior Curator of Australian Art. The exhibition derived largely from his own personal collection. Kangaroos were something of an obsession for Lane, who, before his death in 2024, had amassed an eclectic collection that included curious examples from Europe, the Philippines and Japan. Around 150 of these works are now in the collection of the National Museum of Australia.
