This exhibition was organised by the Queensland Art Gallery in association with the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris. It featured 253 works of poster design, lithography and artist trial proofs by French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Known for his depictions of late nineteenth century Parisian society, Lautrec has been described by historian Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie as one of the “great artists of ‘modern and contemporary’ France.”

In conjunction with the exhibition, two scholarly symposia were held at Queensland Art Gallery and the National Gallery of Victoria.
