This fine touring exhibition comes from the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. It is a representative exhibition which broadly traces the development of watercolour painting in Britain. Encompassing three centuries of British Art from some of the nation’s greatest artists in the medium of watercolour, this is the most important exhibition of British drawings and watercolours ever seen in Australia. Artists exhibited include Anthony Van Dyck, Francis Place, Thomas Wyck, Samuel Buck, George Lambert, Alexander Cozens, Thomas Gainsborough, Robert Adam, Joseph Wright of Derby, J.W Turner, John Constable, Walter Sickert, Philip Wilson Steer, Henry Tonks and Paul Nash.
