Six Australian Women Photographers

NGV International

Ground Level

3 Oct – 16 Nov 75

In acknowledgement of International Women’s Year, work by six young women, Marion Hardman and Melanie Nunn (Hobart), Fiona Hall and Melanie Le Guay (Sydney), and Ingebord Tyssen and Jacqueline Mitelman (Melbourne), attracted a lot of interest for its vitality and freshness. The tragic death of Melanie Le Guay not long before the exhibition is recorded here with deepest regret. Seventeen of her photographs have since been purchased for the collection and five prints, especially made for the show by her partner, Mr Tandy Rowley, were generously presented by him in her memory.
