Physical description
Kutani wares are celebrated for their bold and vibrant colour palettes using over-glazed enamels. The shishi (lion dog) is seen to bring bountiful harvests, and its dance is believed to be a form of exorcism against disease and bad luck. Other striking features on this bowl include flowers, leaves, spirals and a typically Kutani-style luminescent green underside and yellow base.
