Physical description
This chapan, a garment worn by men or women, is a contemporary example of a traditional Uzbek silk ikat coat. It is made from silk decorated with bold hearts and traditional jewellery forms in red, blue and yellow dyes and cut so as to form a symmetrical pattern. The coat is lined with Russian cotton printed with heart motifs and the internal edges are trimmed in striped fabric.
