About this work
Tama Sharman’s linocut print on tapa cloth is one of a series of four works exploring how male spiritual identities can be expressed through traditional First Nations iconographic tattoos. Autobiographical in nature, the series reflects on transness and queerness within First Nations and Pacific contexts. Sharman’s work powerfully conveys the negotiations involved in living between cultural identities as well as genders.
