About this work
This is an intimate study of the artist’s model, seated facing left, with the fabric of her dress and chemise slipped engagingly off her left shoulder. Pierre-Auguste Renoir undertook numerous small-format studies of the same model in the early 1890s. These charming intimist scenes became highly collectable as boudoir pictures.
