About this work
This woodblock print is from a series by Ishikawa Toraji that depicts Japanese women in fashionable modern interiors. The women are nude in each scene, giving the prints a voyeuristic and erotic sensibility. Toraji emphasises the tactile nature of cats, as the woman in this print allows a black-and-white cat to rub against her skin.
