About this work

Founded in 1972, Denton Corker Marshall (DCM) is a leading international design and architecture practice. DCM’s architectural language is grounded in modernist sensibilities, and the practice is known for its refined detailing, formalist approach to materials and striking use of geometric form. Designed in 1989, the Adelphi sofa once formed part of the original interior of the Adelphi Hotel in Melbourne. The boutique hotel project involved the renovation of a c. 1920s building on Flinders Lane, with DCM designing the interior spaces and all of the hotel’s furniture and textiles. The result was a visually bold and unconventional hotel experience that helped redefine hospitality in Melbourne.
