About this work
John Galliano was appointed Creative Director of Maison Margiela in 2014. His first acclaimed ready-to-wear collection for the house was 2015 autumn–winter, where the designer paid homage to the Surrealist works of Elsa Schiaparelli. Mules is a striking example of contemporary footwear design that speaks to Galliano’s ability to create statement works that reflect on fashions past while being very much of the present.
