About this work
Backstage after presenting this collection, Watanabe described the collection as ‘classic clothing interpreted in my own way’. References to Edwardian aesthetics and the reinterpretation of Chanel codes such as pearls, chains and tweed were literally and figuratively unravelled. This work exemplifies his interest in historical tailoring, street and sub-cultural fashions and uniforms.
