About this work

Elliat Rich’s Tall place draws inspiration from the ecologies of Mparntwe (Alice Springs), where geology, colour and story shape her design language. Working between art and design, Rich transforms material experiences of place into cultural expression. Tall place draws on sun-bleached leaves, ghost gums and the shifting hues of desert light at dusk to create an object that feels both encountered and imagined. Mercurial in form yet grounded in place, it embodies her broader project Other Places, in which furniture becomes a vessel for belonging, sentience, myth and the lived textures of Country.
