About this work

This mirror by designer Elliat Rich seeks to capture the elusive haze that settles over Australia’s mountain ranges when seen from a great distance – a chromatic phenomenon shaped by eucalyptus vapour, dust, light and atmospheric depth. Neither fixed nor nameable, this shifting colour field becomes the conceptual anchor for the work, which bends, refracts and merges light to evoke landscapes that are both seen and imagined through memory. Part illusion and part material presence, the mirror operates as a threshold between perception and memory.
