About this work
Multidisciplinary artist Maree Clarke is connected to the traditional lands of the Mutti Mutti, Wamba Wamba, Yorta Yorta and Boonwurrung peoples of Victoria. Thung-Ung Coorang, her inventive collection of contemporary wearable neckpieces, combines customary organic materials with 3D-printed forms modelled from kangaroo teeth, echidna quills and crow feathers. This necklace from the collection speaks about place, culture and history. It derives from a number of kangaroo-teeth necklaces Clarke painstakingly created using now obsolete customary processes.
