About this work
Philip Brophy is an Australian composer, filmmaker, writer, graphic designer and academic. He was part of the experimental music scene in Melbourne from the late 1970s and a member of the avant-garde art and music group Tsk Tsk Tsk (written as three arrows), which formed in 1979 and dissolved in 1986. During this period, Brophy designed all the posters and record covers for the group, as well as posters advertising events and independent radio stations. This small selection of Brophy’s work – showcasing his wry humour, distinctive graphics and fondness for bright colours – provides a snapshot of the punk and post-punk period in Australia.
