About this work
Garments in Kawakubo’s Crush collection were constructed by laying stiff, bonded cotton flat on a table and then folding the fabric back on itself in every possible direction before oversewing it. This work shows the design variation achieved by this technique, and the sculptural and tonal effect which is heightened by the monochrome palette.
