About this work
The outbreak of the First World War saw Vienna swept by a wave of patriotic fervour to which the artists of the Wiener Werkstätte were not immune. These glasses bear decoration celebrating the Austro-Hungarian war effort by using the colours of the flags of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The glasses were acquired by members of the Gallia family and are testimony to their sense of Austrian identity and national pride.
