About this work

The wigs featured in Martin Margiela’s 1997 show were created as a commission by BLESS. Margiela had seen BLESS’s work in i-D magazine and approached the duo to collaborate. His condition was that the furs be recovered from old flea-market fur coats and dismantled in his workshops, and that the wigs imitated real hairstyles according to his drawings. This example features a hallmark engraved on a metal rivet to document the collaboration.
