About this work

Camille Fauré was one of the most celebrated enamellers of the Art Deco period. His works ushered in a new era of elegance and sophistication in enamel production, and introduced new methods of manufacturing and decoration. This vase is an example of Fauré’s innovative techniques, displaying his use of silver foiling over the copper form to create shimmering effects under the enamel. Fauré also introduced new enamelling techniques in which he built up elements of a design to create three-dimensional surface effects. Fauré trained in Limoges and established his workshop there. In 1925 he exhibited at the Paris International Exhibition, where his designs came to international prominence.
