About this work
The American Japanese artist Isamu Noguchi is primarily known as a sculptor, but his career was multifaceted and he also achieved great success as a landscape architect and set designer, as well as for his Akari lighting series. At various points in his career, Noguchi ventured into object design. In 1931 he designed the Hawkeye measured time clock and kitchen timer, reflecting the streamlined, curved aesthetic of American Art Deco design during the 1930s. The clock was available in black, brown or white bakelite, with either a wind-up or electric movement.
