About this work

In this key look from Kawakubo’s Unfinished collection, Kawakubo interrogates the possibilities of textiles and silhouettes. The collection was characterised by deconstructionism, purpose-dyed textiles and irregular fabrics. Kawakubo said, ‘I wanted to go back to the beginning and show that the finished product isn’t what’s interesting anymore, when clothes are in the middle of construction, then there’s always the question of what comes next.’
